CORPUS CHRISTI- The State Senator who's announced she's running for Governor was in town Saturday afternoon.
Democratic State Senator Wendy Davis spent the afternoon visiting with commissioners at the Port of Corpus Christi.
Davis came into national prominence recently when she filibustered to temporarily stop the state's efforts to restrict abortions.
The event was sponsored by a group called battleground Texas, which is trying to get Davis elected the state's 48th governor.
During her stop at the Port, she says education will be one of her main goals,
"I have a long and very strong record of supporting our public school system, and obviously, activity like this can't take place without making sure that there is an educated work force to supply the workers to make these things profitable, to make them a success".
She faces a tough road leading up to the elections as she, assuming she wins any primary races, is likely to face Republican State Attorney General Greg Abbott, who is widely considered the front runner.
