CORPUS CHRISTI - A local homeowner is upset after a water main broke across the street from her house. She fears the break has a lasting consequence beyond the usual effect of flooding.
The homeowner called the Water Department to report the water main breakage on Thursday but it wasn't until today that a crew showed up to fix it.
The flooding looks as it would after a heavy rainfall but it's all from of the rupture.
Nobody has been living in this house for awhile now so the neighbor took it upon herself to tell the Water Department what was going on.
"The house was almost floating away in the backyard because the backyard looked like a swimming pool. And it was gushing down my driveway into the gutter and with water restrictions my concern is we're wasting precious water here," said neighbor Mary Goldston.
Even though they finally got out there to fix it today, now Goldston has other concerns than just water restrictions.
"My next concern beyond stopping the water flow are the breeding grounds for mosquitoes that are just right over the fence from my yard and my home," explained Goldston.
It's still unknown what caused it.
