CORPUS CHRISTI - A superb start to the work week as plenty of sunshine has made for a gorgeous day in South Texas. Mostly sunny skies means very warm temperatures and they skyrocketed back up into the upper 80s this afternoon, but look to miss the record of 88 degrees set back in 1978.
Tonight will be warm and muggy with temperatures only falling into the mid-60s once again. Fog will remain in the forecast as well as some areas, especially the inland regions, could see some dense and patchy fog with visibilities dropping to near a quarter of a mile. Winds will be light out of the south-southeast at 4-8mph.
Tuesday will be a bit of a transition day as a weak front will approach the Coastal Bend and begin to pass our northern counties as early as 2PM and the remainder of the area by 6PM. Afternoon highs should still reach the mid 80s. Along with the wind shift to the north, that may become brisk around 15-20+mph, there will be an opportunity for some isolated showers and a few embedded thunderstorms as the front sweeps on by. I'm not optimistic that it will be a complete washout, but some isolated areas could pick up as much as a half inch when all is said and done.
The "cooling" effects of the front will not last long as we recuperate back into the 80s by Thursday and on into the weekend. The next cold front looks to arrive late Monday and will bring much cooler temperatures to the area. We'll have to keep an eye on it.
Have a great evening!
