CORPUS CHRISTI - The first half of Sunday was very nice as we had mostly sunny skies and temperatures reaching the lower 70s for the early afternoon hours. Then abruptly, clouds began to increase along with the winds that lead the National Weather Service to issue a Red Flag Warning that was in effect for just a few hours, now expired, for the high fire danger potential.

Tonight, we will keep the mostly cloudy skies and temperatures will be very mild and muggy due to the cloud cover and the winds remaining on the elevated side out of the southeast around 15-20mph. Expect those temperatures to only drop into the mid-60s

Monday will be very warm and above average as temperatures will skyrocket back into the lower to mid-80s for a good portion of the Coastal Bend with a mix of clouds and sun. Areas to the south, around Premont & Falfurrias, could flirt with 90 degree temperatures as well. Winds will remain breezy to windy out of the south at about 15-25mph with higher gusts possible. Boaters and mariners should continue to use caution as the bays could be potentially choppy to rough.

The temperatures warming up on Monday will be in response to a frontal boundary entering South Texas early Tuesday morning that will give us a reinforcing shot of some "cool" air and bring temperatures back into the 70s for highs and bring our dewpoints back into the 40s. Rain chances will begin to increase late Tuesday and on into Wednesday, the best day for some rainfall, as an upper level storm system moves in from the west. A few lucky areas could see up to half an inch with current model forecasting. We will have to continue to monitor it!

Have a great week!
