CORPUS CHRISTI - Despite a drastic increase in cloud cover over the Coastal Bend this afternoon, it was still a warm day as most area locations reached the upper 70s to lower 80s. Winds have increased from yesterday as well as we have seen winds gusts as high as 37mph here in the city of Corpus Christi.
Tonight, expect the clouds to stick around with winds staying a bit elevated around 8-15mph. This will inhibit dense fog from forming, however, there may be some light fog that forms and reduce visibility if the winds die down a bit further. Lows will be mild in the upper 60s to lower 70s.
Monday will be another warm day with a mix of clouds and more sunshine than what we observed today with an afternoon high in the lower 80s. Winds will kick back up once again out of the south-southeast around 15-25mph and wind gusts as high as 30-35.
There will be some relief on the way as a fairly strong cold front will arrive late Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning and bring a dose of cooler temperatures. There will also be an isolated chance of showers and a few embedded thunderstorms as the front sweeps by. Rainfall totals look to average around a quarter to half inch with a few spotty locations, especially to our northeastern counties, receiving just a tad more. The further west you are located from the coastline, the smaller your chances are to get some rain. We'll have to keep an eye on it as there is plenty of moisture to work with as the front moves in. Behind the front, expect a gradual clearing out of the clouds by Wednesday afternoon and afternoon highs dropping back near seasonal levels in the lower 70s and nighttime temperatures dropping into the 40s and 50s.
Have a great week!
