CORPUS CHRISTI -Today, folks strapped on their walking shoes and hit the pavement at Whataburger Field to help find a cure for ALS.
ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. Eventually, people with ALS lose the ability to use their muscles, which leads to paralysis and death within two to five years of diagnosis. There is no cure.
But the teams that walked the 5K course today hope to change that.
Today they raised $36,000, but their goal is $60,000.
If you'd like to donate to find a cure for ALS, you can do so here.
