Volunteers Restore Oyster Reef Habitat

CORPUS CHRISTI - Some folks spent their Saturday helping restore an oyster reef habitat.

Volunteers bagged up oyster shells and dumped them into the waters at Goose Island State Park in Rockport.

The 300,000 pounds of oyster shells came from local restaurants.

This project creates a habitat for young oysters to grow.

The Department of Life Sciences at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and the Harte Institute headed this annual project.
