CORPUS CHRISTI - Nicholas Deason says last night he was staying with his two friends, the Longorias, at their home on Dodd. He says someone knocked on the door, Mr. Longoria opened it thinking it was his next door neighbor. When the door opened, he says 19-year old Adrian Belt and 22-year old Clarence Miller, burst into their home waiving guns and yelling.
"Well he's asking, give me the money! Give me the money! We don't have any money. So the other guy just starts beating the woman. And I mean had her in a corner and must have hit her 30 times," said Deason.
At this point Deason gave the robbers all the money he had. They left and he called police.
"I was scared. I thought I was gonna die," said Deason.
As officers arrived, one of the suspects actually went back because he'd dropped something. Police arrested that man, along with 25-year old Crystal Barrera who they say was driving the get away car.
Barrera is charged with child endangerment. Police say she her three boys, ages 2, 3, and 6, were left home alone while she was taking part in the robbery.
Police found a third person a few blocks away. As for Mrs. Longoria, she had to be taken to the hospital for her injuries.
"She's 50 years old and he beat her like she was, you know, a rag doll," said Deason.
All three suspects are behind bars for aggravated robbery. Deason says they all deserve to be behind bars, especially the men who beat up Mrs. Longoria.
"Anybody that's gonna beat a 50-year old woman like that, uncontrollably like broke her nose all that kind of stuff... Needs to be in jail. That's why they build prisons. You know, it's for people like that," said Deason.
Deason says the Longorias are fine, just shaken up. But he says this whole experience taught both him and his friends a valuable lesson.
"Don't answer your door when somebody knocks. You know, don't assume you think you know who it is," said Deason.
