CORPUS CHRISTI - City of Corpus Christi officials say six companies have entered bidding to take over a kiosk vacant on the bayfront. A few weeks ago, KRIS 6 News questioned why the fancy site was unused.
Voters approved the structure as part of a bond project nine years ago, but it's been empty ever since completion in 2011. City officials say talks with one vendor about taking over the spot never materialized even though the city isn't asking for much in the way of rent.
The current bidders are considering selling food, clothing or any other small items that may interest visitors near the American Bank Center.
A decision on a tenant could come through early next year.
