Vandals Slash Tires On City's Westside

CORPUS CHRISTI - Several people at a westside apartment complex woke up Sunday morning to find their car tires slashed. We learned that people are still worried the vandals might come back.
One resident asked us not to reveal his identity, for fear of retaliation by the vandals who left several car tires, flattened.
"Well, this morning, about 9 o'clock, I stepped out to get in my car and I noticed there was a flat tire in the back."
But it turns out the man wasn't the only one.
"A few minutes later or something an old man asked me, did they get your tires too? And I go, yes, they got them."
He said he walked around the complex and found that ten cars in total had their tires slashed. But what's worse is that it's not the first time vandals have caused this much senseless damage.
"They did this about 2 months ago, too. And I'm very upset because a lot of these people live on a fixed income and they cannot afford to be buying tires, you know?"
Now, this man and several others will have to get up early Monday morning, before work to get their tires replaced.
"I have to go buy some tires, tomorrow and I don't know how much they're going to cost. And all these other people that were not able to buy tires but had to patch them up at the service station, the best they could."
And this resident has a message for the vandals who slashed their tires.
"I really think they ought to be ashamed of themselves, you know, because most of these people are elderly people and they ought to be ashamed for what they're doing to them."
We called the police department to see if they were looking into the vandalism, but our calls were not returned.
