CORPUS CHRISTI - The Harbor Playhouse is a staple in the Corpus Christi community and it needs your help. All three of the air conditioning units went out and there's no room in the budget to cover the unexpected expense.
Brucie Moore is the Vice President on the board of directors at the Harbor Playhouse, she says the temperatures have surpassed 85 degrees in some parts of the building.
"We have a very hot studio theater and our costume loft is wilting at this point. Three of our air conditioning units which supply cooling to our studio theater, to our shop and to our costume loft just gave up the ghost and they are dead and gone," Moore said.
The rusted and broken down units need to be fixed but the repairs won't come cheap.
"The three units together are 11,900 dollars," Moore said.
But the non-profit organization doesn't have money to replace the A.C. units so they're looking to the community for help.
"We're just looking for anyone that can help us to step forward and we will gratefully receive any donation in any amount," Moore said.
She added that the breakdown couldn't have come at worse time.
"Unfortunately it happen just days before a show opened," she said.
The Crucible premieres Friday night and Moore is hopeful that until the A.C. units are fixed, fans will help cool down the theater.
They're expecting about 100 people at the show and while ticket purchases will help pay for repairs more donations are greatly appreciated.
