CORPUS CHRISTI - The Corpus Christi Police Department is investigating the city's first homicide of 2013.
Police were called to a disturbance at 1010 Behman Street at 3:26am Tuesday morning. Officers found an injured, 35-year-old man, in the parking lot. He was taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries.
Witnesses directed police to the person who caused the injury, a -22-year-old man inside a nearby apartment. He had a gun and refused to come out of the apartment so police evacuated nearby residents.
The CCPD SWAT team and a hostage negotiating team arrived and the suspect surrendered to police just before 5am.
The victim is identified by friends at Leonard Jones. Police are not yet saying how he was fatally injured.
