Unsupervised Toddler Hit While Running Across Intersection

INGLESIDE - A 2-year-old boy is in bad shape after he was hit by a car near the Dollar General in Ingleside this afternoon.

Police say the boy's grandmother was supposed to be watching him, but he was running around the store parking lot by himself before running out in the middle of an intersection.

A woman spotted the kid in time to swerve, but the car fish-tailed and hit him. Witnesses rushed to help him out immediately. We're told he was injured, but conscious enough to be very upset.

Halo Flight brought the boy and an uninjured woman to Driscoll Children's Hospital.

Police say no tickets were issued for the accident, but Child Protective Services has been notified about the incident.
