Universal Falls 8-4 in First Game of Little League World Series

PENNSYLVANIA - The first Corpus Christi team to make it to the Little League World Series ran into some trouble in the first inning as the team from Washington jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead.

The Universal Little League All Stars, representing the Southwest, held on to score 4 runs when a relief pitcher for Washington ran into some trouble.

Washington came back strong in the top of the 6th to double up the score to 8-4. Universal was able to get one runner on base in the bottom of the 6th, but that's it.

The boys from Corpus Christi will have another shot on Saturday afternoon in the double elimination tournament. They'll face the loser of the Southeast vs New England game being played this evening.

Our Drew Collins is in Williamsport, Pennsylvania for the game. We'll have all the highlights and post game interviews from the players coming up tonight on KRIS 6 News and Action 10 News.

A big thank you to Mattress Firm for making Drew's trip to the Little League World Series happen.
