CORPUS CHRISTI - Residents are upset because the city says improvements on their street are complete. They say it isn't. That project was paid for by the 2008 Bond.
If you look at the city's website it shows you the complete list of the bond 2008 projects and their status. The Buddy Lawrence project is listed as being completed, but residents say that's not true.
"The Bond '08 package was to include street lighting for safety reasons. And everything in the project has been done, I think rather nicely, except for the street lighting which hasn't happened at all," said a concerned resident.
He says he began calling they city about this in November and even sent an email to the city manager in December. He claims he never got a response and didn't mind until now.
"The website still said it was under construction, it's still being developed. So I had to give them the benefit of the doubt that they were still gonna come back and do it. But now it says complete. And it's not," said the resident.
He says at night, the only lighting they get is from the post office, and a few old street lights that were there before the bond project. And he says the lights are necessary for his family's safety.
"You need a little bit more security than just hoping nothings coming down your path," said the resident.
So, he says the city needs to complete the project like promised to keep his neighbors safe.
We tried to contact multiple city officials about this issue, but no one had time to meet with us.
