LONDON - A pair of Australian radio hosts are off the air and said to be "completely shattered" by the news that a nurse who fell victim to their prank call is dead.
Jacintha Saldanha's body was found yesterday at nurses' housing provided by the London hospital where Prince William's wife was being treated for acute morning sickness this week.
The DJ's had called the hospital, posing as Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles to get information about the Duchess of Cambridge's condition. Saldanha transferred the call to a fellow nurse caring for the former Kate Middleton.
The hospital's chief said the prank humiliated "two dedicated and caring nurses" and had "tragic" consequences. He's sent a letter of protest to the head of the radio station's parent company.
Saldanha's death is being treated as unexplained.
