CORPUS CHRISTI - "In Judge Thomas Greenwell's mind whatever it was that was confronting him he did not see nor did he want to live another day for a resolution to whatever the problem is," said Nueces County Sheriff Jim Kaelin.
The sheriff's department says they are looking into every possibility.
"There are many, many, other sinister plots that have been called into here and told to us. Some, if not all, are currently being investigated," said Sheriff Kaelin.
Because of their investigation, they now have two persons of interest in connection with the suicide. Sheriff Kaelin says Albert Fuentes is one of the people his investigators are talking to. Fuentes is believed to have lived with Greenwell recently. We're told the judge commonly referred to Fuentes as his son.
The Sheriff is not naming the second person of interest.
"We're turning over really not stones any more, we're turning over pebbles," said Sheriff Kaelin.
These pebbles include everything from Judge Greenwell's financial records, personal life, medical history, and even court cases. He says they won't stop until they find out what was going on that caused Greenwell to believe suicide was his only option.
Meanwhile, the medical examiner is currently conducting an autopsy on Judge Greenwell. The Sheriff says it appears the judge may have been dead since noon on Monday. Sheriff Kaelin did tell me several people at the courthouse heard a loud noise around that time. Many of them checked Greenwell's courtroom, assuming a TV had fallen, but they didn't see anything and went on with their business.
