CORPUS CHRISTI - Corpus Christi ISD Police placed Ray High School on lockdown today after reports that a teen from another school was planning to walk into Ray High School with a gun.
CCISD Official Lorette Williams said a parent overheard a conversation about a gun and contacted police.
The campus was placed on lockdown for an hour while they conducted a thorough search of the premises. After investigating, police realized the woman misheard the conversation and the whole situation was a miscommunication.
Meanwhile, a student saw a man armed with a knife in the school cafeteria, snapped a picture and notified police. Police questioned the man who said he found the knife laying in the grass outside and was trying to throw it away.
The school has a scheduled assembly today for parents and students as an end-of-the-year function. Williams said the man was allowed to be on school grounds.
Williams added that students were on heightened alert because of the initial reports but said at no point were students ever in danger. This circumstance turned out to be another misunderstanding.
