Two Immigrants Caught in Robstown Chase

CORPUS CHRISTI - Officers in Robstown ended up chasing the driver of a truck wanted for speeding this afternoon. One officer keeping an eye out for possible drug smugglers along Highway 77 tried to stop the pickup for driving too fast in a construction zone.

The driver went off the shoulder the get around two 18-wheelers in his attempt the officer. We're told the driver was going over 100 miles an hour. He pulled off onto a side road near Highway 28 where everyone inside bailed out.

Officers were able to find two men hiding nearby in a drainage ditch. At least two more people got away.

Police say the truck was reported stolen in Houston during a carjacking last month. The two illegal immigrants arrested today face charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and evading arrest.
