Two Car Collision Sends DPS Trooper to Hospital

CORPUS CHRISTI - A State Trooper making a U-turn after a traffic stop along Highway 361 on Mustang Island was hit by an SUV driven by a 23-year-old woman from Corpus Christi this afternoon.

The trooper was taken to the hospital for a possible concussion after hitting his head on a rifle inside his car during the collision.

The roughly 60 mile per hour impact left heavy damage to the side of his patrol car and the front end of the SUV that hit him.

A trooper says the other driver was not seriously injured. Her passengers appeared to be okay.

Officials have not decided who will be ticketed for the crash.
