Two Attempted Sexual Assaults in 24 Hours

CORPUS CHRISTI - The police department is warning people to aware of their surroundings following attempted sexual assaults of two young women. Investigators believe the same man may be responsible for the attacks.

The first happened early Monday morning when a 19-year-old woman was getting out of her car at an apartment complex on the 4200 block of Ocean Drive. She told police she was able to fight and use pepper spray on her attacker.

Twenty-four hours later another 19-year-old woman told police she was leaving Cole Park when a man flagged her down claiming something was wrong with her car. She pulled over to take a look and the man attacked. She fought back using her keys.

One woman described her attacker at Hispanic, 30-40 years old, 5'8", weighing 240 pounds. The other woman was only able to tell police the man was heavyset, Hispanic and last seen driving a red pickup.
