SINTON - Residents in a small Sinton Community are concerned about a man who they say is illegally running a business out of his home. It all has to do with construction equipment that they say has no place in their neighborhood.

Irma Trujillo lives across the street from the house in question, and says the equipment doesn't belong in a residential setting.

"It makes our neighborhood look trashy," she says.

The heavy machinery sits on the property of Joe Sandoval, and its used for his company, J.M.S. Excavating and Landscaping Services.

But neighbors say they're tired of the loud equipment going up and down their street.

And by keeping the equipment on his property, Sandoval is breaking city zoning laws. City Manager James Minor showed us which zone the neighborhood is in.

And according to city ordinances, any property in that zone is not allowed to house heavy equipment like the machinery on Sandoval's property.

The deed restrictions for that development also state that all property is to be used for residential use only.

But Sandoval says he's doing nothing wrong.

He says the machinery is quiet and doesn't bother anyone.

"Why haven't I been taken to court? Why hasn't something been done about it if I'm really in violation?" Sandoval asks.

But something has been done. The city has filed a complaint with the municipal court.

That complaint was filed yesterday. Now, they wait for it to be processed.

City Manager James Minor says city ordinances can't just be tossed aside.

"They're made so that we as individuals that live in a community next to neighbors and next to other people, we can all get along," he says.

Bottom line is this heavy machinery may have overstayed its welcome.
