ROCKPORT - An officer patrolling the Salt Grass Apartments in Rockport was able to make one arrest out of a group of people seen gathered around two stolen trucks early Thursday morning.

The Rockport Police Department says several people ran off when they noticed the officer in the area. Officer Ben Aumada was able to catch one guy who was in the bed of one of the trucks.

George Sanchez, 30, of San Antonio is charged with evading arrest and auto burglary. He may faces additional charges of auto theft.

Police say the steering columns of both trucks had been broken which allowed the suspects to drive them away. The trucks were reportedly stolen out of Portland, and at the time of Sanchez's arrest, the owners had no idea their vehicles were missing.
