BRYAN - Gov. Rick Perry and firefighters from across the state are scheduled to converge on a Central Texas church to pay tribute to two firefighters killed while fighting a weekend fire.

The public memorial service is scheduled for Wednesday at the Central Baptist Church in College Station for the two Bryan firefighters, Lt. Eric Wallace and Lt. Gregory Pickard. Both died of injuries suffered while fighting a fire at a Knights of Columbus Hall. Separate funerals are planned later this week for the two.

Meanwhile, Bryan Fire Chief Randy McGregor says firefighters Ricky Mantey Jr. and Mitchel Moran are walking short distances as they recover from their injuries at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston.

McGregor says the fire began with short in an electrical cord.
