CORPUS CHRISTI -- A neighborhood filled with nice homes is having to endure quite the eyesore. At 6729 Deerwood Drive, we found trash piled and scattered on a front lawn. The mess is impossible to miss.
It turns out the mess is from someone you may have heard of before - Jason Cano, also known as DJ Kane.
Cano is a Mexican-American singer who was the lead vocalist for the Latin Grammy award winning A.B. Quintanilla III Y Los Kumbia Kings. He's also had some success as a solo artist.
The Central Appraisal District lists the house on Deerwood as his, at least it was his. Neighbors say he's lived there about 6 years. One man we found picking up a trailer from the home said Cano was evicted as part of foreclosure proceedings.
"How far behind were they," we asked the man, who wouldn't share his name. "I don't know," he replied, "that's all I know." He did say he's the one who put all this trash in the front yard of the home with obvious signs of wear and tear.
He says the bank contracts him to clear out foreclosed homes and part of the process is leaving the property left behind out for former homeowners to pick up. "What's the number of days it sits out there," we asked him. "A couple of days," he said. He would not specify how many days.
Neighbors would like to know just how long this trash will stay.
"I think its been out here about 4-5 days," neighbor Mark Woerner said. "I'd like to see it gone, its pretty much an eyesore," another neighbor told us.
Its such an eyesore in fact, one neighbor decided to leave a note on the door, complaining about the mess.
With loose papers and light debris blowing directly into his yard, the man who owns the home directly next door says this trash can't be picked up soon enough.
"What's the latest you want all this gone," we asked. "Today," was his response.
Meanwhile, the man who says it will be his job to clean up this mess says he's only waiting on the go ahead from the bank.
"Believe me, I wouldn't want it either, that's all I'm going to say," he said.
