Traffic Investigators Re-Create Ocean Drive Crash While Family of Victim Holds Candlelight Vigil

CORPUS CHRISTI--Police were out early Sunday reconstructing the scene of a deadly motorcycle crash earlier that morning.

32-year-old Johnny Contreras was killed when his motorcycle went out of control on Ocean Drive, hit a curb and struck a palm tree.

Officers say he was speeding when the crash occurred around 2am.

Investigators were out taking measurements at the site in hopes they can better understand what exactly happened that made Contreras lose control of his bike.
Meanwhile, friends and family gathered at the crash site Sunday evening, to honor his young life.
More than 50 people came out to the candlelight vigil, which took place at the crash scene in the 1200 block of Ocean Drive.
Family and friends remembered him for the person he was during the hour-long vigil..
Johnny leaves behind 2 daughters.
The family is planning a benefit to help with his burial expenses.
