Track & Field: Javelina Men's Break School Record in Distance Medley

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas A&M-Kingsville track and field team started off the indoor track season on the right foot from day one of the Texas Tech Masked Rider Open indoor track meet today at the Athletic Training Facility.

The men's distance medley relay team consisting of seniors Josh Prado and Sergio Rios, sophomore Ryan Richardson and freshman Michal Idziak broke the Kingsville indoor school record with a time of 10:39.04. The previous record was 10:44.80 set in 2011. Prado was a part of that team as well. The team placed fifth overall in the meet.

Sophomore high jumper Jeron Robinson pulled a first place finish by jumping 2.14m (7'-0.25"). He defeated two Texas Tech jumpers, Jacorian Duffield and Bradley Adkins. Duffield is currently ranked ninth in the nation for high jump in Division I. Freshman Zach Griffith placed ninth overall in high jump with a 1.99m (6'-6.25").

Javelinas two-sport junior CJ Griggs jumped 6.89m (22'-7.25") in the men's long jump placing third in section A of the meet.

Rounding out the men's competition in field events, Myrium Davis placed sixth with a 13.98m (45'-10.50") weight throw. Dasheen Ellis-Dall finished with a 6.01m (19'-8.75") jump, placing 23rd in the men's long jump.

In the men's running events, Jose Galvan finished the 600-yard run with an overall time of 1:15.81. Dylan Dimock crossed the line less than a second later with a time of 1:16.27. Dallas Payne finished with a time of 1:19.68.

Four Javelinas competed in the men's 200-meter dash today in Lubbock. Corbin Whalum led the Javelinas with a time of 22.83 followed closely behind by Tyler Garibay. Marquis Cardinal and Joseph Soza finished less that a second later with 23.66 and 23.69, respectively.

On the women's side, senior Samantha Alvarez placed 10th overall as she jumped 1.61m (5'-3.25") in the high jump.

The women's distance medley relay team consisting of Tezna Roy, Kathy Trevino, Janae Lewis and Danica Huerta crossed the line at 13:17.33, a time good enough for seventh overall.

Freshman Tarah Lacossade jumped 4.75m (15'-7.00") in the women's long jump.

In the women's running events, Taylor Moore finished 16th in the 600-yard run with a time of 1:33.27. She was third amongst other Lone Star Conference competitors.

Nine Javelinas competed in the women's 200-meter dash today. They finished with times of: Amber Perry, 26.53; Santia Deck, 26.59; Britny Biles, 26.66: Logan Nelson, 26.73; Brittany Stafford, 28.15; Tarah Lacossade, 28.16; Bethani Eberhart, 28.82; Brianna Bartosch, 28.84; and Stephanie Garcia, 29.63.
