CORPUS CHRISTI - Vernon Tolmie of Corpus Christi has plead guilty to robbing the Texas Champion bank on Ayers twice. According to prosecutors, the 52-year-old admitted to robberies on July 11, 2012 and November 19, 2012.
Police caught Tolmie a short time after the November 2012 robbery. After finding discarded clothes worn by the robber in an abandoned building a police dog was able to track the scent to a nearby restaurant.
Prosecutors say Tolmie had cash and a gun stashed in his boot. An eyewitness and fingerprint identification later solidified the case against him.
He's now awaiting sentencing in May when he faces up to 20 years in prison.
