CORPUS CHRISTI - Two men from Three Rivers are heading to prison for sexual exploitation of a child based on their sharing pictures of young, nude family members.
Prosecutors built a case against Mark Anthony Stokes, age 36, after police were called to his house for a disturbance back in May 2013. Stokes had been stabbed and cut by his wife after she found nude photos of a girl on a flash drive.
Investigators determined that Stokes and Carlos Cortinas, age 40, had talked several years earlier about their interest in children and had shared photos of relatives with each other.
According to prosecutors, the men continued sending each other the same type of images, as well as child pornography downloaded from the internet, up until Stokes arrest last year.
Stokes received a sentence of more than 11 years in federal prison. Cortinas was given more than 17 years in prison.
