CANYON, TEXAS - The Texas A&M-Kingsville volleyball team had three players named to the all-Lone Star Conference team that was announced by league officials Wednesday evening during a banquet at the LSC Championship. They also had four individuals earn LSC Academic honors.
Javelina senior Kristin Chancellor (Bellville/Bellville HS) earned first team honors, junior Sha Tramble (Houston/Clear Brook HS) was named second team and junior Virginia Hernandez (Katy/Katy HS) was tabbed with Honorable Mention honors.
Chancellor, a middle blocker, is a first time honoree by the LSC. She led the Javelinas with a .316 attack percentage and 96 blocks. She also contributed 2.32 kills per set and had 17 matches with at least a .300 attack.
Tramble, an outside hitter, is earning her third all-LSC honor after taking home first team honors as a freshman and second team honors last year. She led the team with 2.66 kills per set and was second on the team with a 2.99 digs per set. She posted a .236 attack and had six double-doubles on the season.
Hernandez, a libero, is earning her second straight LSC Honorable Mention award. She led the Javelinas in digs per set for the second straight season with 4.22. She had double figure digs totals in all but one match this year and went over 20 digs in seven different matches.
Chancellor also headlined the Javelinas earning LSC Academic honors. She was named to the LSC All-Academic Team for the third straight year. She is a Psychology major.
The All-Academic Team is selected by the league's sports information directors, who vote on the basis of both academic and athletic achievement. To be eligible for LSC academic recognition, student-athletes need at least a 3.30 grade point average and must be at least a sophomore. All academically qualified student-athletes not selected for the All-Academic Team are then named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll.
The Hoggies had three players named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll including; senior Kirby Krueger (New Braunfels/Canyon HS), junior Casey Chancellor (Bellville/Bellville HS) and sophomore Amanda Waclawczyk (Poth/Poth HS).
