CORPUS CHRISTI - A federal grand jury has returned an indictment against Leroy Mitchan, the third defendant accused of a form of money laundering involving Nice Guys Auto in Corpus Christi.
Prosecutors say Mitchan is part of a conspiracy to deposit more than $100,000 in cash in smaller transactions to avoid scrutiny from the Internal Revenue Service.
Kimberly Davis, the owner of the auto lot and Mr. Nice Guy's smoke shop, and Justin Colmenero, a real estate agent are also under indictment on the same charges.
Prosecutors plan to present evidence at trial concerning transactions over $450,000 handled by the defendants.
All three face up to 10 years in prison if convicted.
Last month, federal agents searched four businesses and homes linked to the defendants. We're told agents found synthetic marijuana, THC oil, a stolen gun, and a large amount of cash. Agents also towed all the cars off the lot of Nice Guys Auto on Everhart.
