Thieves Assault Store Clerk Over Bottles Of Shampoo

CORPUS CHRISTI - The Dollar General on Greenwood turned into a crime scene around noon Wednesday, after a suspected shoplifter injured an employee. The robbery was all over a few bottles of shampoo.
Ester Reyes is a regular customer has a granddaughter who works at this Dollar General. And she got a terrifying call from her granddaughter. Her friend and co worker "Courtney" had been assaulted in broad daylight.
"One of the girls, one of the employees here told me that a customer had come in and tried to steal some stuff," Ester said.
Police confirmed Ester's story, saying that a man and a woman walked back to the shampoo aisle and
started stuffing bottles of shampoo into her purse. But when they tried to leave, that's when "Courtney" stopped them.
The victim told police that the man grabbed her arm and twisted it around right before he shoved her away from the door so they could make their getaway. And all for about 6 bottles of shampoo.
Ester told us, "I felt bad! I had to feel concerned for myself also, because I come here all the time. My granddaughter works here and I kind of feel kind of concerned for them also. For her and the other employees."
And she had nothing but nice things to say about the victim.
"Very lovely person, very courteous to everybody."
But now she's worried about her granddaughter who is still working here.
"It does worry me because even during the day? Let alone at night. I'm concerned. I'm concerned," Reyes said.
The man was described as a Hispanic male, with a bald head, standing about 5'4" and the woman has light brown hair and a large brown purse. They were seen driving away in a white Mitsubishi Gallant.
