The Warrior voice is being heard. We (@KRISsports) starting receiving a large amount of tweets with #HelpGetKOBEToReachOutToChris around midnight on Wednesday. We loved the idea, so we sent out a tweet of our own. By 3 a.m., a combination of re-tweets and mentions about Chris was nearing 1,000.

16 year-old school/team mate Chris Gelinas has a rare form of cancer, and his dream is to meet Kobe Bryant. Family and friends believe that meeting the NBA superstar would be an inspiration to one of their own.

It's Chris that's doing the inspiring.

Just 16 hours after that #HelpGetKOBEToReachOutToChris began, hundreds of students/friends/teammates/faculty gathered to show support. Prayers were recited, the basketball team lead chants for Chris, and a few tears were shed.

In 2009, Chris was diagnosed with Epitheliod Sarcoma. It's a form of soft tissue cancer that is common in young adults. It has gotten to the point where Gelinas is no-longer receiving treatment.

Chris' mother and sister told us that he is the biggest basketball fan "probably ever". He played hoops growing up with a lot of the guys that are now playing for Tuloso-Midway. The Warriors visited Chris at his home just over a week ago.

"It made his whole attitude change," his sister, Marlena Lopez, said. "It was incredible."

It was incredible for his teammates, too.

"He's battling something real serious," senior Will Luis said. "He should be out here with us."

Christian Davila, another member of the Warrior's hoops team, was described as Chris's best friend.

"He knows how much we love him, he knows that we care about him," Davila said. "Anything that we can do to make him happy, I know he's going to cherish it for the rest of his life."
