CORPUS CHRISTI - The IceRays will finally have their top offseason acquisition Chad Woolard on the ce tonight, after a minor knee injury shelved him for the first two weeks.
However, there'll be another Chad worth watching when the guys take on first place Odessa, one who played with Woolard last year.
Chad Costello made an immediate impact in the first period of his first game as an IceRay on Saturday with a power-play goal in a 3-2 win over Arizona. He was released by the Stockton Thunder of the Echl After Training Camp, which was a surprise to him considering he was told he'd be a top-line player. He has reason to be hungry here.
"The guys on the team right away made me feel like at home and part of the team. That made it a lot easier and I could just go out there and play and know that they had my back and they knew I had theirs. It was a lot easier than in Stockton, I guess," Costello said.
"I think what's made him even more hungry is he sat out for awhile. There are some pretty good players still around that haven't had jobs right now. Knowing that aspect does make these guys pretty hungry to play," Head Coach Brent Hughes said.
