CORPUS CHRISTI - Once a year neighbors compete to transform their house from ordinary to extraordinary. but sometimes people want their house to really shine without having to do all the work that comes with it. and that's where Wayne Carden with Christmas Décor comes in.

"The way we look at it," Carden said, "a lot of people get real busy during the Christmas season and we just want to give them the opportunity to take lights off of their schedule and let us handle all of that."

While the low lying areas are easy to get, some people aren't really comfortable getting up on roofs and climbing in trees to put the lights up. So more and more often, people are turning to professionals like Carden to handle the entire job the safe way.

"You can't just hook wires together and go in any configuration you want to anymore you can really overload a circuit create a safety hazard," Carden said.

In addition to keeping it safe this Christmas season, Carden and his crew also know the best ways to keep it cheap. They cut costs by using energy efficient decorations such as LED lights.

"They burn cooler, they're not as hot, they use a lot less electricity," he said. "The advantages just go all the way around."

Probably one of the most important reason to light up a neighborhood is to also keep criminals at a safe distance.

'It's not a good idea to have your Christmas lights be on at certain times of the Christmas season and then not," Carden said. "It's basically advertising the fact that you're not home so actually using the timer is a safety issue in addition to being a convenience factor."
