Texas to Crack Down on Toll Road Deadbeats

AUSTIN,Texas (AP) - The Texas Department of Transportation is joining the battle to make toll-road deadbeats pay up.

The Austin American-Statesman (http://bit.ly/1fNvoWZ) reports TxDOT is partnering with law enforcement agencies to impound vehicles of those who've run up at least 100 violations within a year but still drive the tollways.

A Williamson County constable's office in Round Rock is the only law enforcement agency so far to sign a contract with TxDOT. Apokeswoman Veronica Beyer says TxDOT will pursue contracts with other agencies.

Chief Deputy Robert Woodring of the Williamson County Precinct 1 Constable's Office says deputies will be posted on the county's two toll roads, Texas 45 and Texas 130. They'll have the license plate numbers of frequent toll violators and the times when the drivers usually skip paying.
