Texas Polling Places Open Late Due to Cold Weather

AUSTIN - The cold weather has had an impact on voting in some parts of Texas. Icy conditions forced Travis County officials to delay the opening of some polling sites until 11-am.

Election officials in the affected areas continue to monitor the weather. The Secretary of State's office has advised polling places that opened late to plan on staying open past 7 pm to allow adequate time for people to vote.

However, keeping polling places open after 7 pm will require a court order. The Secretary of State's office says it's working on that.
