FORT WORTH, Texas - A North Texas county has paid a $375,000 settlement to a female former prosecutor who accused the district attorney of sexually harassing her.
Tarrant County's payment is shown in a stack of records released by District Attorney Joe Shannon's office on Friday. Former prosecutor Sabrina Sabin alleged that the harassment went on for "a long period of time" and included graphic sexual comments. She also said she feared that she would be subjected to retaliation.
The documents were released after state Attorney General Greg Abbott ruled they were public records. The 72-year-old Shannon denied the allegations Friday and asserted that he didn't agree to the payment.
Shannon was appointed district attorney in May 2009 after the death of longtime DA Tim Curry. He won a full term in 2010.
