MEXICO -- A cruise ship remains adrift at sea off Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula after a fire a on Sunday left it without propulsion.
Two of those stranded are a couple from Plano.
35-year-old Kim Luerssen and her fiance Vern Jackson won a free cruise last summer and were both looking forward to the four day trip.
But when the engine room caught fire Sunday morning, the ship lost power, stranding the more than 3100 passengers 150 miles off the coast of Mexico.
Kim has been texting her mother in Texas with updates from the ship and spoke with her Monday afternoon.
