Port Arthur- (AP) - A Port Arthur facility will destroy some of the industrial chemicals found in Syria's stockpile of chemical weapons.
The Beaumont Enterprise reported Saturday that Veolia Environmental North America won a bid to destroy five types of industrial chemicals that had been stored in Syria.
Veolia says in a statement Friday the contract was awarded by the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons.
The company says the materials it will destroy are "standard industrial chemicals transported and widely used across the United States every day" and are consistent with chemicals they handle daily.
