HOUSTON (AP) - Testimony has wrapped up in the trial of a Texas woman charged with murder after a fire at her home day care killed four children and injured three others.
Closing arguments in Jessica Tata's are expected to be held Monday.
Prosecutors allege Tata had hot oil cooking on a stove at her day care in 2011 when she left the children alone to go shopping. Three other kids were hurt.
Tata's defense attorneys rested their case Thursday. The only defense witness, an engineering expert, testified he believes the stove was off during the fire and a refrigerator could have started the blaze.
Prosecutors presented two rebuttal witnesses: an expert who said the stove was on and a state investigator who said Tata admitted leaving the pan on the stove.
