CORPUS CHRISTI- james and his sister Mecklin, hosted a fundraiser today off Ocean and Mitchell street. The event raised money for a rare type of bone cancer that affects children.
When we spoke with James Ragan and his sister this afternoon to talk about the organization they created, called Triump Over Kid Cancer, they said they had already raised over 5,000 dollars.
James was diagnosed with osteo-sar-coma, back in 2006. After treatment James thought he was cured, until the cancer moved into his lungs-that's when he learned there was no treatment for for this type of cancer. He and his sister founded the Truimph Over Kid Cancer Foundation, to raise money for more reasearch.
Todays tent sale had everything from dishes, to furniture to family airlooms. All donated to help people like James fight cancer. All the money raised today, will be matched dollar for dollar with the M.D. Andersons Childrens Cancer Hospital.
The brother and sister team plan to keep raising money, as they head to Louisinana next week for the " big easy fundraiser" . James just had another round of chemo, but he tells us, he wont slow down, until they find a cure
