KINGSVILLE - A couple of boys run down by a hit and run driver Saturday night remain in the hospital. Nicholas Mireles and his friend, Justin Shelton, were hit while walking on the 300 block of Ailsie.
Police say the driver didn't stop, but they found the car a short time later. Authorities would not comment on who may have been driving the car. So far, no one is under arrest.
Nicholas' mother tells us her 14-year-old son suffered a fractured skull.
"The only thing I gather is my son was walking home from the football game and that's all he remembers. I assume he blacked out. He has scrapes and bruises all over his body, his feet. He was complaining of hip pain. I'm just thankful that he's alive," says Christina Mireles.
Mireles was unable to tell us about the other teen's injuries.
Neighbors tell us the accident likely could have been avoided if the street had better lighting. They claim drivers come speeding down the street on a regular basis.
