COLORADO - The FBI has thwarted an alleged attempt by a Colorado woman to help the overseas militant group, Isis. 19-year-old Shannon Conley is charged with conspiring to help a foreign terrorist organization.
Newly unsealed court documents show the FBI was able to arrest her before she boarded a flight in April.
Investigators say they found several CD's and DVD's relating to Jihad and Al Qaeda in her luggage.
According to agents, Conley told them she was in a relationship with an Isis fighter in Syria and was trying to get to him.
Meanwhile, Pastor George Marrison of Faith Bible Chapel in Arvada, CO, a church that Conley visited, says her behavior got suspicious enough for staff to question her.
"There were several responses back to our pastors who would confront her try to talk to her...where we know there was some hostility there," said Pastor Marrison.
Federal complaint claims Conley joined the U.S. army explorers a month so she could be trained in U.S. military tactics and firearms.
