SAN ANTONIO - A teenager has been fatally shot in San Antonio by a sheriff's deputy who says it was in self-defense.
Bexar County sheriff's Detective Louis Antu says the sergeant was driving about 2 a.m. Sunday when he saw the 19-year-old walking partially in the street and acting suspiciously.
Antu says after the sergeant got out and asked the teen to be patted down for weapons, he became violent and tried to shove the sergeant into oncoming traffic.
Antu says the sergeant shot him multiple times and then called for medical help. The teen died at a hospital.
No names have been released. The sergeant has been placed on administrative duty.
Antu says the teen may have been the same person at a nearby gas station acting erratically before the incident.
