CORPUS CHRISTI - A 16-year-old boy who lead officers on a foot chase near Sunrise Mall last night is accused of causing some $12,000 dollars in damage from graffiti.

The officers were called out to the area near Staples and S.P.I.D. just before midnight because of a suspicious man. Once an officer spotted the suspect he took off running towards McArdle Road.

Pepper spray was used to get the guy under control as officers tried to place handcuffs on him. They later discovered he's only 16. Police say they found materials used in graffiti while searching the teen.

Recent vandalism was found on a fence in the 1600 block of Airline, a vacant restaurant at Williams and Staples, another building in the 5700 block of S.P.I.D and an overpass.

The teen is now charged with graffiti, evading arrest, resisting arrest and violation of curfew.
