CORPUS CHRISTI - The Corpus Christi Association of Realtors delivered more than 4,000 teddy bears and other stuffed animals to the Corpus Christi Police Department's Family Violence unit this morning.
The stuffed animals collected during the 'Bears on the Beat' drive will be on hand in patrol cars and the police station in the event that officers find the need to comfort a child affected by a traumatic event.
Children who are in need of comforting will be able to grab a hold of that stuffed animal and keep it, rather than suffering the possible pain of having to leave their new found friend behind.
Fortunately, so many stuffed animals were collected this year that the department will be able to donate to other organizations that help children in the Coastal Bend.
The stuffed animals are collected by Corpus Christi Association of Realtors every year from mid-October to middle of November. If you would like to make a donation of new stuffed animal you can still do so with the Association of Realtors located at 4825 Everhart Road, Corpus Christi.
