PORT ARANSAS - Spring Break is one of the busiest times of the year for places like Port Aransas.
That's why agents with the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission try to curb alcohol related incidents by doing random checks looking for alcohol related offenses...at bars and businesses that sell booze. During the days leading up to Spring Break, officers check be sure convenience stores and local bars were doing everything by the book.
When we rode along with them Friday night, they found a violation at a Stripes store. The store's alcohol permit wasn't posted properly. Down the street at The Flats Bar, everything checked out to be OK.
As college students trickle in, agents will crank up the efforts to curb underage drinking.
In previous years, as many as five to six-hundred people have been cited for drinking underage. Businesses caught selling to minors can be cited, fined and even shut down.
