HOUSTON - An 18-year-old Houston man is charged with murder after a fatal shooting at a girl's Sweet 16 birthday party that left her brother dead.

Johnny Robert Benavidez is accused of opening fire just after midnight Sunday. The victim, 27-year-old Edgar Garcia, was found dead on a driveway in north Houston.

Authorities say about a dozen people showed up uninvited to the Sweet 16 party. A fight broke out when they were asked to leave. They did eventually leave, but came back to the home.

When another argument began, Benavidez allegedly drew a handgun and fired.

He is scheduled to appear in Harris County court Monday. He did not have an attorney listed.
