CORPUS CHRISTI -- Patricia Suter, a well-known environmental activist, turned herself into authorities Wednesday afternoon after her attorney said she was driving a car that hit and injured a 60-year-old man.
Suter, who is charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving bodily injury, surrendered to authorities at the Nueces County Jail with her attorney, Mark DiCarlo, and her son, Hal, by her side.
DiCarlo said Suter, who has vision problems, was driving her 2012 Ford Focus about 7:00 a.m. Mar. 16 when she accidentally hit local attorney Richard Leshin, who was riding his bicycle along Ocean Drive. Leshin suffered neck and back injuries, but has since been released from the hospital.
He said Suter, 87, thought she hit a garbage can.
DiCarlo said he would post Suter's $50,000 bond sometime Wednesday night.
